Daniel grew up in a dusty galaxy far, far away from Philadelphia, otherwise known as New Mexico. He is the son of a pastor who modeled for him what faithful endurance in the ministry looks like and a godly mother who made sure that from childhood he was acquainted with the Holy Scriptures. He has a BA in philosophy from New Mexico State University, which may account for his fondness of bombastic vocabulary and his occasional references to pointed-headed philosophers. He graduated with an MDiv from Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia) in 2011 and is currently working on a ThM from there as well.
He and his wife Eliza have been married since 2007 and are reveling in the joys of parenthood with their two girls, Anastasia Zoe and Eliana Amina . They also are the proud owners of an excessively friendly and spastic labradoodle named Rory.
Daniel served as the youth director of Third Reformed Presbyterian Church from 2008 through 2011. He served as the interim pastor of the church from 2012 until the summer of 2013 when he was called as the pastor of the church.
Despite the appearance of being a young whippersnapper, he is actually old and boring at heart, a natural Presbyterian. He enjoys an eclectic smattering of music, gardening, a good cup of black coffee, spicy food, and is a Chicago Bears fan who has learned to chant the refrain “there’s always next year.”
